SoCal Beach Cleanup
Huntington Beach, Calif.; Sept. 2012 – Merchant Services, an Alliance Partner of SBGA, Participates in the Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day to Keep Our Beaches Beautiful.
Every year, over 14 billion pounds of waste are dumped into the earth’s oceans. This year, Merchant Services volunteered to do their part and protect our coast and waters by participating in the 2012 California Coastal Cleanup Day.
Merchant Services employees took time out of their weekends to travel to Huntington State Beach for a day of scavenging for trash left in the sand and soiling the beaches. By noon, the volunteers had cleaned roughly 500 feet of the coast, removing bottle caps, wrappers, twist ties, straws, plastic utensils, and cigarette butts.
“It has been truly inspiring to see the level of enthusiasm and involvement our team members have shown while taking part in these volunteer opportunities,” shared Vice President of Merchant Services Nathan Jurczyk. “We have seen an overwhelming desire from our team to help those in our community.”
